Kate Del Castillo On Human Traffic

The rising Mexican star Kate del Castillo is best known for her role as the “Queen of the South” in the worldwide popular Telemundo series “La Reina del Sur”. During her interview with NGB.tv’s sister channel RCN.tv, del Castillo talked about her role in the movie Trade on the traffic in human beings.

In Trade, del Castillo played the dramatic role of a human trafficker for which she was rewarded with a Mexican Ariel Award and Spanish Goya Awards nominee. The actress explains how hard it was to deal with this type of role. “It was one of the hardest things to do. How can you stop judging a character like that because that’s what actors are supposed to do: not to judge because then you cannot play it”, says del Castillo.

The movie increases awareness on human trafficking as a form of modern slavery and a crime against humanity. Human beings are recruited and transporting through the use of force for the purpose of being exploited. The most common form of human trafficking is sexual exploitation. The trade of human beings is a global issue. The entire world is affected by illegal trade of human beings whether as a country of origin, transit or destination for victims.

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime‘s Voluntary Trust Fund for Victims of Trafficking in Persons identifies victims and help them believe in a better future. It assists the victims in building a future where there is freedom and dignity. The fund encourages everyone, including institutions, governments, non-profits and individuals to work together and coordinate efforts in providing humanitarian, legal and financial aid to victims. Actress del Castillo insists on education as a method of prevention within everybody’s reach.

  • Its always brothered to see how human beings ,especially children are bought and sold for sex. I’ve been a follower on this, due to the awareness that it comes from other countries especially poor countries where the families can’t feed themselves due to poverty. Young girls and boys are sold ,so the other children can eat.
What is most disturbing is that they manage to get to the United States under false pretense and it can last for years the suffering and abuse they go through until they are found. Yes this is a very big issue, and the goverments ,and anyone with humanitarian feelings get involved so this dosent expand into a major issue.

  • You’re blogging has really come on when I look back over previous posts. Actually I arrived here from a forum on an unrelated topic. Worth surfing sometimes. Thanks.
