The Power Of the Mind

To be financially literate is the key to create an effective financial plan, which will make you achieve the goals you set for yourself to live the life you want. On air journalist and financial expert Stacey Tisdale shares her expertise on how to gain successful money management skills and master your finances. Tisdale provides you with the necessary tools to be able to understand finance and the ability to make informed judgments and effective decisions about money.

Controlling your thoughts to create a positive environment is the first step to reach the objective of financial literacy. Training your mind to be successful involves the three concepts of control, confidence and consistency. They empower your mind to impact on your internal environment.

Starting with control, you become your own cheerleader. Practicing self-talk will engage you in positive financial behavior. Positive self-talk are only made possible if you are confident in your ability to change your perspective. As we work to change attitudes and behaviors with regard to money or in any other part of our lives, it is important to think about what change and transformation feels like. Understanding that your behavior must be consistent with your values is a pre-requisite to allow changes to happen.

These concepts serves as the basis for Winning Play$, life skills and financial literacy program that Tisdale designed for high school students in conjunction with NFL Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott’s All Stars Helping Kids Foundation.  Students develop the psychological, social, and emotional skills needed to transform conditioned perceptions and behaviors that are preventing them from envisioning and achieving goals. The program won the U.S. Department of Education’s Excellence in Economic Education Award in 2010.
