UN agencies have recently expressed strong concern over the violent massacres of civilians in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). There have been killings, torching and attacks against civilians for months, with the victims of these attacks primarily being women and children. The UN reports that since May 2011, there have been more than 45 attacks on 30 villages and towns in the DRC.
